Do you want to learn how to lead climbing? Gain the experience with this Introductory one-day course on Lead Climbing (bolted climbs). This training is a huge step towards climbing independence that will open the door to a lot of climbing routes and destinations. This course is intended for participants with previous outdoor climbing experience that are comfortable top roping 5.10a and up. Gaining experience in leading sport routes is also a great way to build a solid foundation to start leading trad routes with more efficiency and confidence.
The topics covered during this one day course are:
– Crag and route choice
– Lead climbing techniques
– Quickdraw placement, use and removal
– Clipping a rope while leading
– Efficient and safe lead belaying
– Falling techniques
– Building anchors at the top of the climb and removing them
– Rappelling from an anchor.
This is an exhilarating and challenging experience that will not only provide you with new knowledge and techniques but also pump the adrenaline into your blood.
Minimum 12 years of age.
Duration: 6 hours.
Schedule: 8:30 am until 2:30 pm – please arrive 15 minutes prior to your course start time.
Note: participant must have a previous climbing experience, comfortable climbing 10a (top rope) and some knowledge at building basic anchors.
All the required equipment is provided.
Remember to bring/wear:
– weather appropriate clothing,
– closed toe shoes,
– snacks and/or lunch,
– 1L of water per person is recommended.
